Beacon Academy Reviews

Although the school is in it's 5th year, it is still working out some kinks, like a permanent location. I like the community feel of Beacon, and the parent involvement. I like that the teachers have a plan, but can veer off if the students have a particular interest in the topic they are covering. So far, my child has really been enjoying all of it, the maps, science, music, spanish. In her 2nd year, they're covering more math, Phy Ed and art as well, and I believe they'll get deeper into Character Education this year.

Our son started in kindergarden at Beacon and will be in 2nd grade in the fall. The staff is very responsive to parent concerns. In addition to applying the core body of knowledge the school stresses good citizenship values. We are very happy with his progress.

My child goes to kindergarden at Beacon academy. The things I like most about the school are their character education, communication of the school with parents and every day spanish teaching. My daughter loved the spanish teacher and within a week she picked up the language and was telling me all the colors in spanish.last but not the least is they have a school uniform which helps them to keep focus more on academics. They have chess club, gymnastics and art classes. Also provide good hot lunches.Get home work every day of course not on weekends.I like the core curriculum which they follow.Over all the school is good

We have 3 children in Beacon Academy, having transferred in 2 years ago from a private religious school. My wife and I have been very happy with the academics (Core Knowledge) in terms of structure and rigor as well as the quality of the teaching. Most of the children in our neighborhood attend our local public schools and, although the local schools are some of the best in the state (Wayzata) we feel that our children are getting a better education at Beacon. We have been particularly please with the math program (Saxon Math). The math programs other schools tend to use (whole math, Chicago math) tend to confuse most students. We are also happy with the sense of community at Beacon. The teachers and administrators are good at keeping us updated on what is going on at school and seem genuinely interested in our childrens' performance.
